The heat is making kids go crazy

It’s a sad day when gently-worded requests devolve into shouted imperatives. I always thought I’d be a benign parent but things don’t always turn out as you’re hoping them to. In my case I managed to give birth to two little terrors who never quit until they’ve destroyed my will to live. Most recently there was an incident with the air conditioning. Brisbane has been warm lately but it can get super hot in Summer so we have a air con system just in case. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was the target of their most recent misconduct.

The kids were running around the house and screaming their heads off as per usual. I think I mentioned in my last post that I was thinking about getting a counsellor or learning more about how to discipline them, so I was doing some research online when a freaking basketball smacked me in the head. ‘I told you not to play ball inside!’ I said, but they just ran off laughing. Anyway, I didn’t get any further with my research because within the next thirty-seconds or so I heard a crash and a bang. I know this is going to sound extreme but I was at the end of my tether, and I was more alarmed that the kids had broken something than hurt themselves. Alas, my fears were confirmed when I went into the next room and discovered that they’d smashed the toaster right into the cooling system. I just broke down and cried.

It was a few days later that I eventually called for the air conditioning repairs. Brisbane is good for these kinds of heating and cooling services, I know because now I’ve had my ducted heating and air con repaired within a couple of weeks of one another! It’s about time I looked into child services and maybe even some counselling for myself too because the little ones are driving me insane.
